Demand for charging piles has soared

China is the world’s largest producer of electric vehicles. From the customs data of the first eight months of this year, China’s new energy vehicle exports contributed 26.7% to the growth of automobile exports, becoming a new highlight of foreign trade in the automobile industry. With the rapid development of new energy vehicles, the demand for charging piles by car owners has also increased rapidly.

The cross-border index shows that the global popular search index of new energy charging piles has been rising year by year since 2017, especially since 2020, and the countries with the highest search for new energy charging piles are the United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, the United States and New Zealand. From the perspective of regional demand differences in application scenarios, in general, the United States currently has the majority of household use, and the overall index will continue. The EU currently has the majority of households, but will gradually adjust to public charging piles accounting for the majority.

Among them, Russia’s new energy vehicles and their charging station market prospects can be expected in the future. In recent years, Russia has intensively introduced measures to encourage the development of energy-saving and new energy vehicles in Russia, and sales of new energy vehicles are expected to increase by 40-45% this year. In the next few years, 70% of electric vehicles in Russia will use Chinese charging stations. Moreover, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade has revised the requirements for fast charging facilities for electric vehicles, stipulating that the Chinese standard GB/T is mandatory, while the European standard and the Japanese standard are optional.

Cross-border e-commerce bright sword European market

According to statistics from the China Automobile Dealers Association, China’s automobile exports will reach 2.015 million units in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 101.1%, exceeding 2 million units for the first time in history. According to data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in September 2022, automobile companies exported 301,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 73.9%. From January to September 2022, automakers exported 2.117 million units, up 55.5% y/y. Among them, 50,000 new energy vehicles were exported in September, a year-on-year increase of more than 1 times; Exports of new energy vehicles from January to September were 389,000 units, a y/y increase of more than 1 times, accounting for 18.4% of total exports. According to the German Association of the Automotive Industry, China has also surpassed Germany to become the world’s second largest automobile exporter.

In this context, cross-border e-commerce is becoming a new track for complete vehicles to go abroad. In 2021, there will be about 2,000 vehicle export enterprises in China, of which there are more than 800 vehicle category merchants in Alibaba International Station alone, with an average daily traffic of 100,000 vehicles, covering mainstream countries where finished vehicles are exported.

China’s flat replacement auto parts sell well all over the world

According to Chinese customs data, from January to December 2021, auto parts exports were US$75.58 billion, a year-on-year increase of 33.76%. From January to August 2022, China’s auto parts exports amounted to US$53.9 billion, an increase of 10.5% compared with the same period in 2021.

Cross-border index shows that the price of China’s flat replacement accessories is basically one-fifth of the price of original accessories, mainly concentrated in chassis, rubber and lamps, in addition to the domestic market, the largest market in the Middle East, South America, Southeast Asia, African market is growing rapidly. There are more than 30,000 parts traders of a certain scale in the domestic automotive aftermarket, and more than 3,000 merchants have cooperated with Alibaba International Station.

Cross-border indices show that China’s exports of automotive supplies continue to grow. China’s exports of automotive electronic control and automotive electronics products totaled about 20 billion US dollars. In the automotive electronics aftermarket, it includes intelligent cockpits, ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems), luxury needs, etc.

With the development of technologies such as autonomous driving and Internet of Vehicles, the market demand for automotive electronics has surged, and the core opportunities for Chinese brands are coming.
